TORONTO,ON - K-W United FC opened up the 2016 PDL season and their Championship title defence the only way they know how: with a shutout. Running away 7-0 winners, United came out on top over Toronto FC Academy to mark their 4th consecutive shutout win in a season opener.

Boasting the largest win margin in K-W history, the team took an early lead in the 11th minute, when Jahsua Mills scored with the assistance of Sergio Camargo.

And from here the success only seemed to continue for K-W.

Mills would go on to score a second goal in the 50th minute, again with assistance from Camargo. Canadian midfielder, Austin Ricci, landed the first hat-trick of the season with three unassisted goals only minutes apart in the 17th, 39th and 43rd minutes of game play.

The season opener also served returning captain Camargo well. Racking up one goal and two assists throughout the 90 minutes, Camargo continued his point streak from the 2015 season, which was instrumental in K-W landing the Championship spot.

Playing on the Toronto FC Academy's home turf at Kia Training Ground, TFC was unable to sink a penalty shot at the 60 minute mark. Despite having more scoring attempts in the second half of the game, TFC was no match for K-W keeper Jared Brown, who maintained the blank sheet.

With a great start to the 2016 season, K-W United are looking to repeat their winning efforts this coming Saturday when they travel to take on long time rivals, Michigan Bucks.
